This piece began with my happiness at hearing the rumor of the dolphins in Venice, albeit untrue; the goal to construct a leap in every way, as we go forward, how we go forward, how we must question, and the energy, the joy, the possibility of a leap. The footage in the first segment is actual, then a leap! – an offer of a moment of wonder. The audio includes John Cage's "Sounds of Venice." April 2020.

HELIX - Venice Biennale 2019
HELIX, a video piece deriving from our most elemental sources, plays on a continuous loop, glowing deep carnelian.
The piece was developed with the scientific team of the Louvre, looking profoundly through a great deal of diverse organic material. A connectivity of imagery emerged, a thread of curious, disconcerting beauty in the tracing of what we are composed. HELIX nudges perspective to the limit, far past delineation or boundaries.
It was shown during the 2019 Venice Biennale, and in an earlier form in Palermo, during Manifesta 12.
There is a group of related prints and drawings.
