HELIX

Venice Biennale, 2019

Tracing movement of the deepest possible gaze into organic material, HELIX nudges perspective, a perspective into ourselves and the world, to the limit, the “confine”, the boundary.

Animal, vegetal, mineral, HELIX unfolds disconcertingly, subliminally, as a question, a gauntlet thrown...

The piece was developed with the scientific team of the Louvre, looking through the most
elemental materials.

As you turn to walk along the Fondamenta Osmarin, past San Marco,
heading toward Ocean Space at San Lorenzo and the
exceptional Chiesa dei Greci, look right,
just in front of the bridge, beyond the Madonna.

HELIX, a video piece deriving from our most elemental sources,
will be playing on a continuous loop, glowing deep carnelian.

The work was developed with the scientific team of the Louvre.
It was shown in its earlier form at the
Marionette Museum in Palermo during Manifesta 18.

As it begins to get dark, and all through the evening,
from the Church of San Zaccaria, walk out of the square
towards the left, taking the first right to the Fondamenta de L'Osmarin passing the madonna ...
